150 polskich żołnierzy nowej misji NATO Resolute Support dotarło już do bazy w Bagram.
Była to jego druga misja zagraniczna, wcześniej był w Iraku. Starszy chorąży miał 38 lat.
Oprócz rodziny na lotnisku na samolot czekały m.in. delegacje MON, Dowództwa Generalnego, a także Operacyjnego Rodzajów Sił Zbrojnych.
W ataku śmierć poniosło także trzech innych żołnierzy NATO.
W Afganistanie zginął polski żołnierz - poinformował Dowództwo Operacyjne Rodzajów Sił Zbrojnych.
Głównym zadaniem zmiany złożonej przede wszystkim z logistyków, będzie przerzut pozostałych jeszcze ludzi i sprzętu do kraju.
Dzięki wyszkoleniu przez Polaków tysięcy afgańskich żołnierzy i policjantów w tej prowincji spokojnie przebiegły wybory prezydenckie.
Żołnierze podkreślają, że wojsko zyskało nie tylko lepszy sprzęt.
Żołnierze symbolicznie zakończyli dziś działania operacyjne. Uroczyste zdjęcie polskiej flagi odbyło się w siedzibie gubernatora Ghazni.
Zgodnie z planami MON obecny, liczący do tysiąca osób kontyngent, zostanie w ostatniej zmianie zmniejszony do maksymalnie 500 żołnierzy i pracowników.
